The first nine days of the 9th month of the Chinese Lunar Month is celebrated by the followers of the Nine God Emperor deities. The festivities involve nine days of strict vegetarian diet with ardent devotees staying nine days in the temple, wearing white clothings with a yellow sash, and on the final day, a firewalking ceremony to cleanse the true believers. These pictures are taken on the day when the deities are on a tour of Taiping city, a colourful procession of leaping mediums and dancing sedan chairs. This is a yearly ritual to bless the residents of Taiping with good health, great wealth and prosperity.

Taiping Wild Boar Feeding
Taiping Wild Boar coming in from the forest to feed on bread and whatever food given to them by curious spectators. This unique event goes on everynight in Taiping. At the time when this video was being filmed, there were at least 15 wild boars at the scene. This is not filmed at the Zoo, but at a public location behind the Tesco Shopping Center.

Taiping Pics
The pictures in the slideshow depicting the beautiful flowers seen in the tulip gardens at Maxwell's Hills Chendana (Hut) bungalow. The small shoots in boxes are the tullips in its infant stage. The water supply is as natural as it can get, straight from the mountain stream. Right at the peak of one of the meandering hills is the rundown Gateway and driveway of the once regal "Box" bungalow. From the pictures, the Speedy bungalow is also in need of "some pick me up" for it to be reasonably comfortable as a holiday getaway. A crossroad in the jungle with our good old crossroad-sign. Pictures of the Taiping Lake Gardens are as beautiful as ever, serene and peaceful. Welcome to Taiping Bukit Larut(Maxwell's Hill) resort.
